German prompt power prices rebounded Wednesday as wind power output was forecast to drop below the 10 GW daily average for the first time over recent weeks after November's wind output averaged at a record 15 GW each hour.
Baseload power for day-ahead delivery was last heard OTC almost Eur7 higher at Eur42.60/MWh, while peakload gained more than Eur8 to Eur51.80/MWh.
Epex Spot settled for Thursday largely in line with OTC at Eur42.53/MWh baseload and Eur50.29/MWh peakload.
Wind output was forecast to drop below 10 GW for average baseload hours, down from a 13 GW average, which was already sharply below the near-record levels above 30 GW observed this weekend and during Monday, data shows.
Actual wind generation in November averaged a record 14.7 GW/hour with Germany's wind portfolio approaching 45 GW and more than 5 GW added over the past 12 months, data from Platts Renewable Power Tracker shows.
Conventional plant availability, including nuclear, lignite and coal, was pegged at 41.8 GW for Thursday, little changed from Wednesday, EEX transparency data showed.
Further out, the weekend contract shed Eur1 to Eur18.50/MWh with wind power output forecast to rise again above 20 GW this weekend, while week-ahead baseload was little changed at Eur30.85/MWh with no significant changes in the latest weather runs for week 50, a source said.
On the forward market, year-ahead baseload power was heard just 5 euro cent lower on the day at Eur29.35/MWh.
