Platts assessed the spot silicomanganese market at $1,020-1,035/mt CIF Japan Thursday, November 6, widening from $1,025-1,035/mt last week, on two offers reported at $1,020/mt CIF Japan.
Two Japanese traders said Indian producers offered $1,020/mt CIF/C&F Japan for December loading from Kolkata or Visakpatnam, while a third Japanese trader said offers were in the range of $1,020-1,050/mt CIF Japan.
A fourth trader said offers below $1,030/mt CIF Japan remained limited.
One trader said he planned to bid at $1,010/mt C&F Japan, while others put their buy ideas at around $1,030/mt CIF Japan.
No deals were reported this week, however buying interest picked up on the back of a central Japan steelmaker issuing a tender to buy 1,000-2,000 mt over January-March.
