Increase font size  Decrease font size Date:2013-10-10   Views:376
Suffolk-based Spectra Packaging has introduced an "environmentally friendly biopolymer" to its range of products.

According to the company, it can now offer its customers plastic packaging made from ethanol from sugarcane as opposed to conventional polyethylene. "The renewable sugarcane captures CO2 from the atmosphere during its production, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," explained Spectra Packaging.

Spectra's commercial director, Gavin Chenery, said: "We're extremely excited about our new bio-based packaging capabilities. With a continually volatile oil market, the opportunity to produce packaging using a sustainable source such as sugarcane presents massive possibilities for the future.

"Using materials that help reduce global warming offer unquestionable benefits for the environment."
