EU chemical producer prices in July fell 1% from June, marking the second consecutive month of decline despite a rebound in energy and feedstock costs, gross data from statistics agency Eurostat showed Tuesday.

Compared with July 2011, domestic ex-works sales prices increased 1.1%, the weakest rate in a continuous 31-month inflation trend.

Within the eurozone, chemical prices eased 0.7% month on month and increased 1.6% year on year.

EU energy prices rebounded 1.3% compared with June, including a 2.8% increase in petroleum product costs, but were 2.8% higher than July 2011.

Factory-gate prices for base chemicals were 1.3% weaker month on month, including a 2.5% decline in organic base chemicals prices, a 1.5% decrease for plastics in primary forms and a stable price level for inorganic base chemicals.
