As of May 28, the average purchase price of grade a waste yellow board was 2,392.14 RMB/ ton, which was 147.14 RMB/ ton higher than that at the beginning of the month (2,245 RMB/ ton on May 1), up 6.55%. The price of corrugated paper was also affected by the rise of raw materials. As of May 28, the average reference ex-factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 3,625 RMB/ ton (including tax), which was 225 RMB/ ton higher than that at the beginning of the month (3,400 RMB/ ton on May 1), up 6.62%.
During the May Day holiday, the price of national waste yellow board began to rise, and then rose. The range of paper enterprises gradually expanded, and the number of paper mills in East China was the largest. After the end of the holiday, the price of waste paper continued to rise, mainly due to the start of production of paper mills and the increasing demand for raw material waste paper. Therefore, the purchase price of waste paper was increased to increase the arrival quantity of waste paper. Then the price entered a relatively stable state, showing a trend of rise and fall.
In the last ten days of May, the price of domestic waste yellow paperboard showed a significant upward trend. On one hand, the reason for the upward trend was that due to the rainy season, the arrival quantity of paper mills was general. Therefore, the purchase price of wastepaper was increased to increase the arrival quantity of paper mills. On the other hand, with the rise of base paper price, the market is more bullish, the packing station is willing to store goods, the paper mill demand increases and purchase actively, which also promotes the rise of waste paper price. But at the end of the month, the price of waste paper quickly stabilized, and then there was a weak callback phenomenon, the downward trend has not expanded.
At the beginning of May, the price of corrugated base paper was temporarily stable. With the end of the May Day holiday, the stock of base paper manufacturers was relatively low, and the preferential policy of Nine Dragons Paper was about to be cancelled, the price of base paper in some areas increased slightly. Subsequently, due to the sharp rise of coal prices in some areas and the continuous increase of raw material waste paper, the production cost of base paper increased, making the price of corrugated paper follow the rise.
Corrugated paper prices continued to rise in late May. Due to the rising price of base paper, the downstream paperboard factory has also issued price increase notice letter for many times. At present, the box board and corrugated base paper have a good rise, and the market has a high enthusiasm to follow the rise.
SunSirs paper analysts believe that under the current price pull up in large factories, market confidence is sufficient, coupled with the upcoming e-commerce festival in June, driven by an increase in downstream demand, making the price of corrugated paper still have upward momentum. However, the stable callback of wastepaper price at the end of the month may form a new trend of national waste price, and the base paper market may also change. It is expected that the price of wastepaper and corrugated cardboard may keep stable in the short term.
