Doors are now open to enter this year's Plastics Industry Awards
This year's PIAs will be held on Friday, 28 September, in the plush surroundings of the London Hilton on Park Lane and like last year's event is expected to be a sell-out.

The 2011 ceremony was hosted by TV presenter and comedian Dara O Briain and saw 800 people from across the plastics industry and their guests celebrating the best and brightest in the sector.

The deadline for entries for this year's PIAs, which can be submitted free and online here, is 15 June 2012.

Awards on the night will include six supplier partnership categories, three design awards, the Young Apprentice of the Year prize and the prestigious Processor of the Year award, won in 2011 by Artenius PET Packaging, Europe.

Steve Crowhurst, publisher of PRW, which organises the PIAs, said: "We're very much looking forward to companies getting their entries in for what promises to be another fantastic awards event.

"We're going to be pulling out all the stops to make sure everyone has a great evening, but we couldn't do this without the UK plastics sector and its continued and greatly-valued support," he added.

Launched in 2001 and now firmly established as the most respected accolade for the plastics industry, the PIAs reward excellence in materials usage, design and manufacturing as well as training and environmental performance.

With 15 categories judged by a panel of industry experts, there are opportunities for supplier companies, OEM manufacturers, plastics processors, consultants and designers to all showcase their work.

Confirmed platinum sponsors for this year's awards so far are Engel Moulders Group and Lawson Keys, while confirmed Gold sponsors are Agentdraw, Distrupol, Hasco and TH Plastics.

Event supporters include British Design Innovation; the British Plastics Federation; the GTMA; IOM³, and the Polymer Training & Innovation Centre.

The £1,000 prize awarded to the Young Apprentice of the Year is being donated by the PMMDA in association with the PPMA.
