India's oil products demand in October rose 8.4% year on year to 18 million mt, or 4.6 million b/d, latest provisional data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell showed.

Gasoline demand rose 10.7% on the year to 2.3 million mt in October while diesel demand rose 4.7% to 7 million mt.
In October, demand for LPG grew by 11.1% year on year while jet fuel consumption jumped 20.9% over the same period.

Demand for oil products in October rose 8.9% from September, mainly led by a 15.9% rise in diesel demand due to lower domestic prices.

Analysts also attributed the month-on-month rise in diesel demand to an increase in passenger vehicle sales in the festival season.

Over January-October, oil products demand rose 5.7% year on year to around 174 million mt, or 4.5 million b/d.

In the first 10 months, diesel demand rose 5.1% year on year to 68.4 million mt, while gasoline demand rose 10% to 23 million mt.
