Corpus Christi positioning itself to be prime port for US energy exports

Chicago — The amount of US soybeans inspected for export in the week ended July 26 was at 740,323 mt, up 1.67% week on week compared with the 728,139 mt inspected in the previous week, Department of Agriculture data showed Monday.

The current inspection is 50.02% higher than the 493,492 mt in the year-ago week, according to the USDA's weekly Federal Grain Inspection Service report.
In the 47 weeks since the current marketing year began September 1, 2017, the amount of US soybeans inspected for export totaled 52.449 million mt, 3.68% lower than in the same period the previous marketing year.

The data showed the total amount of US soybeans that was inspected leaving the US Gulf Coast was 415,842 mt. The top destination was Japan with 95,207 mt. Other notable destinations were Netherlands with a reported 66,611 mt, Pakistan with 68,483 mt and Korea with 59,999 mt.

The amount of US corn inspected leaving the US Pacific Coast was 132,602 mt of soybeans. Top destinations were China with 64,399 mt and Bangladesh with 57,553 mt.
