A gasoil tank at PetroChina Dalian Petrochemical caught a fire at 10:00 of Aug 29, said a source with another refinery underlying PetroChina in Northeast China.
The fire has been extinguished around 13:20 of the day and no casualty was found, according to the source.
The accident did not affect operations of refining units, which are away from the tank, the source added.
The fire-hit tank stores about 800mt of gasoil and there are three gasoil tanks nearby, the source introduced, adding workers are now trying to pump out gasoil from the tanks.
Dalian Petrochemical had reinstalled heat exchanger of its 10-mil-mt/yr crude distillate unit and it is expected to restart the unit this weekend at the earliest. The unit was shut down on Jul 16 because of a fire caused by a leak at the heat exchanger. Dalian Petrochemical’s crude throughput is around 30,000mt per day at present.
Sited in Dalian City of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, Dalian Petrochemical has a topping capacity of 20.05-mil mt per year. Imported crude accounts for over 60% of its overall crude throughput.
