Ukraine's production of manganese ferroalloys rose 32.6% year-on-year to 90,400 mt in November from 68,200 mt a year earlier, but was down from 94,700 mt in October, UkrFa, an association of Ukrainian ferroalloy producers, said Thursday.

In November, Ukraine produced 69,500 mt of silicomanganese (SiMn), up from 52,500 mt a year earlier. Output of ferromanganese (FeMn) rose to 11,500 mt from 8,100 mt and ferrosilicon (FeSi) rose to 8,700 mt from 7,000 mt.

At the same time, output of metallic manganese increased to 700 mt from 600 mt produced in November 2015, the association said.

In January through November, Ukraine's output of ferroalloys rose 13.1% year-on-year to 938,000 mt, up from 829,500 mt produced in the same period of 2015, the association said.

In January-November Ukraine produced 750,600 mt of SiMn, up from 657,600 mt a year ago, and output of FeMn rose to 88,800 mt from 81,000 mt.

Production of FeSi rose to 91,900 mt from 81,600 mt over the period, but output of metallic manganese fell to 6,700 mt from 9,300 a year earlier.

Ukraine's biggest ferroalloys smelter, Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant (NFP), produced 679,900 mt of ferroalloys in January-November, up 21.4% from 560,000 mt a year ago.

NFP produced 634,200 mt of SiMn in the period, up from 533,400 mt, and output of FeMn increased to 45,700 mt from 26,600 mt in January-November 2015.

Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant (ZFP), the country's No. 2 ferroalloy producer, reduced output by 4.3% year-on-year to 258,000 mt of ferroalloys in January-November from 269,500 mt a year ago.

ZFP produced 116,400 mt of SiMn in January-November, down 6.2% year-on-year. Output of FeMn fell 21% to 43,000 mt, production of metallic manganese dropped 28% to 6,700 mt, but production of FeSi rose 12.6% to 91,900 mt.

Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant, the country's No. 3 ferroalloy producer, has been staying idle over the past 2.5 years due to an armed conflict between government forces and pro-Russian separatists in eastern regions of Ukraine.

The plant, based in the city of Stakhanov in the Luhansk region, is in territory currently controlled by the separatists.

In 2015, Ukraine's output of manganese ferroalloys dropped 18.5% on the year to 886,400 mt from 1.087 million in 2014.
