Trevali Mining has raised the 2016 zinc output guidance at its Santander mine in Peru following record output in the second quarter, the Canadian miner said Monday.

The company has increased its 2016 annual Santander zinc production guidance to 57 million to 60 million lb of payable zinc in concentrate grading approximately 50% Zn, up from 52 million to 55 million payable lb previously.

In the second quarter the mine produced around 15.2 million payable lb of zinc -- a new quarterly record -- 5.6 million payable lb of lead and 222,121 payable oz of silver.

Second-quarter recoveries averaged 89% for zinc, 87% for lead and 73% for silver, while mill throughput for the quarter was 219,086 mt, surpassing the prior record of 209,188 mt set in Q1.

Lead and silver guidance for 2016 remains unchanged at 22 million to 25 million lb of payable lead in concentrate grading around 56-58% Pb, and 800,000 to 1 million oz of payable silver.

Trevali has two commercially producing operations, Santander and the Caribou mine in New Brunswick, Canada.

The Caribou mine, which achieved commercial production earlier this month, is forecast to produce Caribou around 37 million to 41 million lb of payable zinc, 14 million to 15 million lb of payable lead and 380,000-420,000 oz of payable silver for the period July 1-December 31, 2016.
