It has notable effects against hepatitis B virus, reducing enzyme levels to protect the liver, preventing fibrosis, and regulating immune function. It is used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, leukopenia caused by tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and leukopenia of other causes. It is commonly prepared as injections and capsules.
