I. Basic Information of the Company
Ningxia Dushun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is an independent legal entity established in 2002 following the restructuring of the former Yanchi Pharmaceutical Factory. With a registered capital of RMB 30.5 million and occupying an area of 40 mu, the company is a technology-driven enterprise specializing in the research, development, production, and sales of pharmaceutical intermediates, natural active ingredients extracted from desert-grown Chinese medicinal plants, and other related products.
We are dedicated to building a high-quality brand of natural plant extracts, advancing the bio-health industry, and leveraging unique regional resources. Our production focuses on a variety of extracts from desert-grown medicinal materials such as licorice and Sophora alopecuroides, as well as pharmaceutical intermediates.
Our main products include aloperine, matrine, total alkaloids of Sophora alopecuroides, sophoridine, total matrine alkaloids, oxymatrine, sophocarpine, cytisine, licorice fluid extract, licorice extract powder, licorice extract, and gynecological cleansing lotion.
The company has been recognized as a key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization at the autonomous region level, a technology-based small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and a "specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative" SME. It is also a designated enterprise under the autonomous region’s “Thousands of Growth, Hundreds of Cultivation” program and has received support from the Ministry of Science and Technology’s National Science and Technology Innovation Fund.
II. Geographical Advantages of the Company
Sophora alopecuroides, a leguminous plant, is mainly distributed across Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Gansu, and other regions of China. In Ningxia, wild resources of Sophora alopecuroides are abundant, widely distributed, and characterized by large reserves and strong population advantages, making it an important medicinal plant resource. Traditionally, local communities have used its seeds and aerial parts to treat conditions such as enteritis and dysentery.
As a unique wild leguminous species thriving in the desertified grasslands of northwest China, Sophora alopecuroides also plays a vital ecological role in wind prevention and sand fixation. Yanchi County, Ningxia, is home to more than 4 million mu of arid grassland where dense populations of Sophora alopecuroides flourish.
The company sources its raw materials from the above-ground flowering parts or the mature seeds collected in autumn. This harvesting method ensures that the plants’ normal growth in the same year is not affected and that the ecological environment remains protected. Benefiting from its location in the core production area, the company has direct access to high-quality raw materials for extraction.
III. R&D Situation of the Company
The company has long maintained close cooperation with universities and research institutes to promote technological innovation and talent development.
In 2012, it signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement with Ningxia Medical University, establishing long-term collaboration in areas such as technical consultation, introduction of advanced technologies, professional training for enterprise staff, cultivation of medicinal resources, and student internships and practical activities.
In 2015, Ningxia Dushun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was appointed as a director unit of the Ningxia Hui Medicine Collaborative Innovation Center and designated as the raw material production base and technology platform of the center. The Collaborative Innovation Center provides technical support to its member enterprises, promotes technological advancement, and helps optimize enterprise talent structures.
Also in 2015, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of North Minzu University established both an Internship and Training Base and a Joint Training Base for Postgraduates within the company. This initiative leveraged the strengths of both academia and industry to cultivate and supply highly skilled applied talents for the enterprise, while transforming scientific research achievements into productive forces with tangible economic benefits.
In 2018, the company, in collaboration with several domestic research institutions and universities, established the Doctoral Service Enterprise Workstation for the Industrialization of Desert-Grown Medicinal Plants and the Sustainable Utilization of Resources, further strengthening its role in innovation-driven development.
IV. Achieved Scientific and Technological Results
In 2010, the independently developed technology, “Extraction of Sophora alopecuroides Alkaloids by Macroporous Resin”, received an Innovation Project Approval Certificate from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
In 2014, the enterprise independently developed a new product “External Gel-Type Lotion Containing Total Alkaloids of Sophora alopecuroides.”
In 2015, it explored a set of unique production process technology entitled "A Method for Preparing Matrine and Sophoridine from Sophora alopecuroides" (Patent No.: 201510782626.7).
In 2016, it developed "a method for converting oxymatrine to matrine".
In 2017, it developed "research on the process of preparing matrine by transfer hydrogenation".
In 2018, the enterprise planned to invest in the project "Integration and Application of Key Technologies in Green Production Process of Sophora alopecuroides Alkaloids"; in the same year, our company won the third prize of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Science and Technology Progress Award, with the project name: Research on Germplasm Resources of Ningxia Sophora alopecuroides and Biological Function Research, Development and Utilization of Its Endophytes. |
